Breakfast – but Mexican street styled |

I know it’s not the done thing really, but I’ve always liked a bit of spice – even for brekkie. And it seems that quite a lot of the world’s population thinks the same – Mexicans included. But can you find a spicy breakfast in the UK? Well, obviously in London, the world’s biggest melting pot you can. And, London is the capital of the UK’s street food scene at the moment. Have you heard about the wondrousness of the Eat.St Collective? They are currently making Kings Boulevard in N1C ‘the’ destination for lovers of food and new pavements alike. Every Wednesday, Luardos go along to sell their Mexican yumminess, but on Saturdays they head to the depths of SE London to Brockley Farmers Market. It’s a fab, family friendly market and when I rocked up around 10.30am, there was a group of toddlers singing their hearts out lead by a couple of young, mustachioed crooners (well it was during the month of Movember). Right in the middle of the thriving market was Luardos vehicle no. 2 - ‘Lily the Pink’ (which makes me want to burst into song.. let’s drink a drink a drink, to Lily the Pink the pink the pink, the saviour of the human ra-a-a-ce’ …STOP. And the grub on offer - they’d thought it through. Heuvos rancheros, a toasted tortilla with refried beans, Monterey Jack cheese, habenero hot sauce, super fresh coriander + a fried egg (but with some guac for me - the eggless weirdo). It was deeelicious. And I even chatted to a lady from the original food truck city – Portland in Oregon, while I munched away. If I’d have stayed for another half an hour, the lunch menu would have been flying. Namely, corn tostada’s with chicken, veggie or even a ceviche sea bass option.
But now there’s an excuse to get the @luardos crew down to Brizzle, which could well be on the cards. Just so I can have a tip top lunch! (Pic of Lily the Pink will be added as soon as poss.) |
